Well, with Transformers Prime starting in a two months, G1 showing on TV again, and me reading Transformers: Exodus, I thought it was as good a time as any to ask SB:

Of the many, many TF Continuities, which do you like best, and why?

Beast Wars and Animated for me. Interesting story, well developped characters and settings.

Lugnut, Ratrap and Dinobot FTW.

Beast Wars

I'm actually considering the purchase of the DVD's, just to see them on the shelf:D

Dinobot's death was the one singular moment in TV/Cinema in which I almost lost it, I admit, as a man secure in my sexuality, I almsot cried.

My early/middle teens appreciated the show.

+1 for both. In Animated Megatron actually deals with Starscream the way he should have.

Beast Wars, Animated and IDW

Honorable mention goes to TF Galaxy Force, only because of its version of Starscream, who is extremely badass, yet still willing to do anything for power, no matter what. He's a mixture of Armada Starscream's warrior qualities with G1 Screamer's power-hungry nature.

Beast wars. Man I loved Waspinator :D

and G1 of course. You know where the transformers went into battle and afterwards actually looked like they had been in serious scrap (I vaguly recall optimus limping back into the ARK once or twice with his damn chest plate blown open!).... As opposed to something like RID where the worst they got in most fight was apparantly a mud splattered paintjob..

And real weapons! No or bloody noisy cricket (I'm looking at you RID! It looked like the damn thing would snap liek a twig if Optimus squeezed to hard) Optimus had a damn CANNON for his gun... Actually one of my few grips about Animated was the 'weapons' teh autobots had... really?

Animated Megatron is my favorite megatron tho. (Although Armada Galvatron gets props for a awesome death scene)

Beast Wars, but Cybertron gets honorable mention for the GaoGaiGar riffs.

I wonder if there's anybody who won't mention Beast Wars?

Beast wars hands down.

g1 might have started it, and has some awesome characters, but the storylines were very cartoony.

Beast wars had awesome characters, strong storylines, with a good sense of humor, and quoted from shakespeare and the bible... hard to go wrong.

Hell it's probably the reason why transformers got a resurgence earlier then most 80's products.

RID annoyed me heavily, and Armada's first few episodes put me off. Never really saw energon or the other one, so reserving judgement (even if all it seemed to do is racing).

Animated was better and did a descent job merging the different eras, but the animation style was something to be desired.

Beast Wars and Animated for me.

Yeah I'm going to have to agree with that as well. It's pretty clear that perhaps if nothing else, time lends to better storytelling (compare Animated to G1, it's freakin' ridiculous) also Animated Omega Supreme FTW.

Still divided between Beast Wars Waspinator vs. Animated Waspinator, but still good.

G1, but mostly because it includes Beast Wars :)

Animated is fun too.

G1 of course, but only up to the movie.

Yeah post-Movie continuity kinda wrecks G1 too, though I do like Ghost-Starscream (yeah I'm probably the only one).

G1. The one I grew up with. I mean all of it: toys, cartoon, comic book.

G1 itself is a split canonuity. The parallel universes of the Sunbow/Marvel cartoon & the Marvel comic book. Or 3 canonuities: the cartoon, comic book & the tech specs information, which IIRC, sometimes differed from what was shown on TV &/or in the comic books.

And of course by association I like G2 & Beast Wars. The complete G1 Sunbow/Marvel cartoon canonuity is: G1, G2 & Beast Wars.

The complete Marvel TF comic book canonuity is: G1, G2 special guest stars in GI JOE, G2.

Very true. Especially fans who hadn't seen the movie or read the comic book adaptation. When Fall '86 rolled around & TF came back on again, alot of fans must've been like:

"WTF?!?! What the hell's going on here? WHO are these characters? 2005? Huh?!?!"

I agree re: "Starscream's Ghost" & "Ghost in the Machine". 2 great fun episodes.

All you people who say "G1"; there are AT THE VERY LEAST, three different G1 continuities. Please Specify, which one.
G1, but mostly because it includes Beast Wars :)
BW is part of the G1 "Continuity-Family", but is a seperate continuity.
My vote goes to Animated, mostly becuase it and the Bayverse are the only ones I'm really familiar with, and Animated is (obviously) loads better.

Marvel Uk G1 had brilliant plots and art, the team(mainly Simon Furman and Geoff Senior) expanded upon the foundations laid by both the cartoon and the Marvel US G1 run, although with the US comics, writing and art were patchy at least until the merger with the UK continuity(Car Wash of Doom, anyone?). Although one of the very very early ones had Spidey in the black suit teaming up with the Autobots to free one of the Witwickys(who had been taken hostage), he even managed to momentarily own Megatron........!
But personally for me, the best G1 incarnation has to be IDW's version, at least up until All Hail Megatron, which IMO sucked balls and completely killed my interest. They should have stopped at Max Dinobots and Revelations with that continuity,
The cartoon is a funny one, when I was a kid in the 80s, I was irate at the comics for not being as awesome as the cartoons. Now, I look back at the comics, especially the UK stuff, and with the exception of the Movie, I find that the comics are far superior.
But with modern stuff, I've only ever liked Armada and Bayformers, don't really have much time for the Beast Wars I'm afraid

G1 (Season 1, Season 2, Movie, Season 3) through to non-American continutity (Headmasters).

There was no American G1 Season 4. It does not exist.

Marvel US Continuity. My favorite Transformer has always been Shockwave, and he's a beast in that continuity.
